It is not unusual for individuals to face money problems at some point in their lives. In many cases, parties may be able to quickly resolve their problems on their own, but for some Tennessee residents, facing the issues can seem too overwhelming to contemplate. In such situations, individuals may turn to bankruptcy for debt relief.

Celebrity couples may face such circumstances, and such was the case for actress Tisha Campbell-Martin and her husband Duane. The two have apparently amassed approximately $15 million in debt liabilities with only $313,000 in assets. As a result, the pair recently filed for bankruptcy, though it was not disclosed which type of proceeding they chose.

Their debts reportedly stem from multiple sources. Bank loans, car payments on multiple vehicles and back taxes were listed among the liabilities associated with their bankruptcy filing. The couple stated that they were unable to reach a settlement with the banks, which contributed to their decision to file. At the time of the report, their case has not yet moved forward through the Bankruptcy Court.

As this case shows, individuals from any income level could face financial troubles. Luckily, celebrity couples and lesser-known Tennessee residents alike could be eligible for financial assistance through bankruptcy. If individuals are feeling overwhelmed by their debt situations, they may wish to find out more information on this debt relief process. Additional knowledge may be gained by consulting with experienced bankruptcy lawyers in the area. One consideration may be to  determine whether a Chapter 7 (liquidation) or Chapter 13 (reorganization) proceeding is appropriate given the circumstances.
